About API Library

The library was established in 1966 to provide access to recorded knowledge in Economic and Social Development and Planning, and to support the teaching and research needs of students and teaching staff. The library strives to provide comprehensive information resources, using both traditional print publications, as well as electronic formats.

 

Location

The library occupies a two level building, centrally located in the Institute's building.

 

Collections

The collections includes monographs, periodicals, and electronic sources (CD-ROM). The books section is located on the first floor.

Periodicals

These are arranged in alphabetical order by title on the ground floor. Current periodicals, Arabic and English, are shelved in separate sequences. The latest issue of each periodical is displayed on the shelf top and its recent back issues are stored under the slanting shelf below.

LIBRARY SERVICES

Users have access to the following library services

Circulations Services

The circulation desk is located at the front of the library for check-in and out of the library material.

Reserve Books Services

Reserve book services are located in circulation desk. Form should be completed by the academic staff and given to the library, before the course commencement.

Document Delivery

Document delivery is service which allows user to order and receive articles which are not available in the library.

Study Carrels

Study carrels are available at the first floor of the library. Carrels are available for two months only, and can be renewed if there is no user on the waiting list. You can keep some books in the carrels. A list of these books should be given to the librarian. No periodicals and reference books can be kept in the carrels.

Services to External Users

The library is open to the public to use the library collection and photo-copying only.

Photocopying

For the convenience of users, the library has photocopying machines located at the ground floor. Price for each page reproduction (A4 size) is 25 fils.

Opening Hours

During the regular academic semesters, from Spetember to May, the library is normally open :
Sunday through Thursday : 7:30 A.M. - 2:30 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. Friday : 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
Saturday : 7:30 A.M. - 2:30 P.M.

From June to August:
Sunday through Thursday : 7:30 A.M. - 2:30 P.M.

During Ramadan:
Sunday through Thursday :09:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.
Sunday through Thursday :20:00 P.M. - 22:00 P.M.
