The Second Meeting of API's Board of Trustees for 2009/2010
The Arab Planning Institute (API) held the Second Meeting of its Board of Trustees for 2009/2010 on 2/6/2010 in Cairo – Egypt. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Hisham Abdulla, Yemen's Representative in API’s Board of Trustees in his capacity as the Deputy Chairman. In attendance were representatives of 15 Arab member countries, API’s Director General - Dr. Essa Al-Ghazali, and Deputy Director General - Dr. Ali Abdel Ghadir Ali. The Board of Trustees approved the proposed 2010/2011 work plan and budget.
API participates in the Twenty-Sixth Ministerial Session of ESCWA
The Arab Planning Institute (API) participated in the Twenty-Sixth Ministerial Session of the Economic and Social
Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), held during the period 17-20/5/2010 in Beirut - Lebanon. API was represented
in this Session by Dr. Essa Al-Ghazali - API’s Director General.
API participates in The 4th Annual Conference of The Arab Region Parliamentarians Against Corruption (ARPAC)
The Arab Planning Institute (API) participated in 4th Annual Conference of The Arab Region Parliamentarians Against Corruption (ARPAC), held on 7/5/2010 in Beirut – Lebanon. API was represented in the Conference by Dr. Essa Al-Ghazali - API’s Director General. A Cooperation Agreement was signed during the Conference between ARPAC, and The Global Organization of Parliamentarians against Corruption (GOPAC) with API. The Agreement aims at supporting efforts against corruption including the development of an Arab Corruption Index.
API held the Annual Meeting of its Advisory Board
The Arab Planning Institute (API) held the Annual Meeting of its Advisory Board on 22/3/2010 in Cairo-Egypt. The Meeting was chaired by API’s Director General - Dr. Essa Al-Ghazali. The Board discussed the institute’s 2010/2011 Work Plan. Members attending the meeting included Dr. Ali Abdel Ghadir Ali - API's Deputy Director General, Dr. Riadh Ben Jelili – Coordinator of API’s Consultancy Committee; Dr. Ibrahim Elbadawi – Director of Macroeconomic Research Department in Dubai Economic Policy & Research Institute; Dr. Sulaiman Al-Jassim, President of Zayed University, UAE; and Dr. Nader Al-Kabbani, Director of Research - The Syria Trust for Development.
Arab Planning Institute in Kuwait (API) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The Information and Decision Support Center in Egypt
Arab Planning Institute in Kuwait (API) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Information and Decision Support Center, part of
the Egyptian Council of Ministers, based in Cairo, Egypt. Under the MOU the areas of cooperation include developing
and providing relevant economic and social statistics, publication of reports on development issues, improving the
skills of those responsible for economic and social development and providing technical advice for interested
countries, holding training programs, round tables & conferences. The MOU was signed by Dr. Essa Al-Ghazali -
Director General of API, and Dr. Magued Osman – the Chairman of the Egyptian Cabinet of Ministers' Information
and Decision Support Center on February 1, 2010 in Cairo - Egypt.
