This note deals with economic insecurity if the Arab countries on the understanding that human security, in general,
is a subset of human development defined as a process of widening the range of choices that people enjoy. It is noted
that the two major components of human security are freedom from fear and freedom from want, and a major component of
freedom from want is economic security. The most important aspects of economic security are real per capita income
levels and their growth patterns; poverty , both material and human; employment opportunities; and, arrangements for
social protection. The paper uses the most recent information to highlight the state of economic insecurity in the

low and medium income.
