The Arab Planning Institute (API) organized a Training
Program in Republic of Sudan, during the period from 1/10/2017 to 3/10/2017, on "Public-private
partnership and development" In collaboration with Ministry of Finance and
Economic Planning, Republic of Sudan. The training program aimed to enhance trainee’s
knowledge and skills in relation to the development of the private sector and
the policies needed to spur growth and development of the sector and to enhance
its role in the process of economic and social development. The program also
aimed to analyze the importance of the private sector in developed countries
and Arab countries, and develop indicators that measure its deployment and
dimensions. It also aimed to explain the prospects for the public-private
partnerships and their implications for all parties, both at the macro, meso
and micro levels, and to enhance the skills of assessing their effects,
indicators and economic dimensions. The program also focused on the mechanisms
of private sector development as well as the importance of privatization, its
tools, forms, mechanisms. The sessions included evaluation of some privatization experiences
in the Arab countries. Skills of selecting institutions to be privatized and
mechanisms for choosing the appropriate method of privatization were amply
discussed. The program focused on case stdudy applications and training tools that
serve the objectives, knowledge and skills of PPP assessement and development.
